What Is the Princess Seam Pattern?
A fully custom, measurement-based pattern drafted exactly for your body, your fabric, and your design vision. This is not a standard sized pattern. It is a drafting tool that generates your pattern from your exact measurements (or using our provided ASTM size table measurements), stretch percentage, and construction preferences.
The princess seam option takes the original dart shaping of the block and transfers it into a curved vertical seam that runs over the bust and down the torso. Instead of visible darts, the shaping is built directly into the seam line. This allows the garment to contour smoothly through the bust, waist, and hips while keeping the outside clean and polished.
Because the pattern is generated from your exact measurements, the princess seam automatically carries your specific dart value. That means it fits your bust exactly as it is. Small bust, full bust, or anywhere in between, the shaping is already built in. No separate bust adjustments. No extra math. Just precise contouring with elevated design lines and true custom fit.
