What Is the Princess Seam Block?
The Princess Seam Block is a fully custom, measurement-based foundation block designed to give you a clean starting point for your own designs. This is not a finished pattern. It is a streamlined drafting base generated from your exact measurements (or using our provided ASTM size table measurements) and fabric stretch properties.
The block transfers traditional dart shaping into a curved princess seam that runs over the bust and down the torso. Instead of visible darts, shaping is built directly into the seam line, creating smooth contour through the bust, waist, and hips while maintaining a clean, minimal structure.
Designed to be light, agile, and flexible, the Princess Seam Block acts as a blank canvas for designers. It provides accurate body shaping without locking you into predefined style decisions, allowing you to develop your own necklines, straps, seam placements, and design details directly from a balanced foundation.
Because the block is generated from your exact measurements, it automatically carries your unique dart value. Small bust, full bust, or anywhere in between, the shaping is already built in. No bust adjustments. No extra math. Just a precise base ready for design development.
Block Features
- Control the height of the leg hole (0% closer to the waist line, 100% sitting at the hip line). This helps you control the level of coverage, as well as, the stability of the garment in wear. So depending on the performance of your final design, you have the option to balance aesthetics, fit and function.

Works Across Kids, Teens, and Adult Sizing
MiSlope is designed to grow with the wearer. In addition to drafting from custom measurements, the tool includes built-in ASTM sizing tables so you can generate patterns even when exact measurements are not available.
Draft using ASTM Girls sizing tables (sizes 2–20) for children and youth garments, making it ideal for dancewear, swimwear, skating costumes, and growing bodies where consistent sizing is needed.
For teens and adults, you can draft using ASTM Missy Straight or ASTM Missy Curvy sizing tables, allowing you to start from an industry-standard proportion set while still maintaining stretch-specific drafting and negative ease control.
Whether you are sewing for children, teens, or adults, MiSlope provides a consistent drafting foundation across size ranges, so you can design once and scale confidently without switching pattern systems.
